Our Support to ANGFA NSW (Australia New Guinea FISH ASSOCIATION NSW)
Australia is home to a rich diversity of freshwater fish species, with up to 90 of its 315 varieties facing the threat of extinction. This includes the nation’s tiniest aquatic jewel, the red-finned blue-eye, which, after millions of years of evolution, is on the brink of disappearing within our lifetimes.
The Australia New Guinea Fish Association NSW (ANGFA NSW) plays a pivotal role in reversing this trend. ANGFA NSW, powered by a community of enthusiasts and experts, dedicates itself to preserving and restoring Australia’s freshwater ecosystems. Their work spans significant conservation efforts such as the Long Swamp Restoration, Lake Wanam Management, and The Save Ewens Pond Project, aiming to promote the study, conservation, and culture of native freshwater fish across Australia and New Guinea while raising public awareness about the challenges faced by these precious species.
AllFish2U is a proud major supporter of ANGFA NSW, driven by a shared commitment to safeguarding Australia’s native freshwater fish. Chris and the team at AllFish2U recognise the indispensable role these species play in our ecosystems, from controlling pest populations to being an integral part of our natural heritage. Through this support for ANGFA NSW, AllFish2U is at the forefront of efforts to highlight the critical state of these fishes and work towards a sustainable future where their survival is secured. The conservation of these unique species is more than a mission; it’s a responsibility we all share to ensure the vibrancy of our aquatic ecosystems for generations to come.
